As for medical school training about running a practice, try "zilch". That's why this website was started. The goal at Private Practice dot MD is to become a valuable resource not just to new doctors opening new practices, but all doctors in private practice. Many of the concepts will apply to any professional practice, from dentists to chiropractors to mental health professionals. I hope we get representatives of all the Medical healthcare fields.
