Does Anyone Advertise in the Yellow Pages Anymore?

All we hear these days about marketing and advertising our practice is about the internet, Google and other search engines, even new a unproven (from a medical advertising point-of-view) tools like Twitter. I heard radio commentary the other day stating that the phone book will stop being printed in the relatively near future. Personally, I don’t think so. At least not the prediction the printing will stop in the “relatively near future”. Sure, it’s all relative, but many people looking for a local doctor or hospital still pick up the phone book when they want to call their doctor or find a new one.
It’s pretty expensive (still!) to get listed in the phone book but if you just order the minimum listing available, skipping the half-page spread and picture of a smiling patient, you’ll get the benefit of a proven traditional form of advertising, and the new added feature of a web-listing on the Yellow Pages website so Google can find you. For me, it is money well spent!
